Who Qualifies To Get A Bursary Or Student Loan From NSFAS?



The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) has formally opened the 2025 application system.

Applications are actually open and can close on 15 December 2024.

*** Who qualifies for NSFAS funding

To qualify for NSFAS funding, an applicant must meet the following requirements:

• Be considered a South African citizen or copyright who comes from a home which has a combined gross home income that doesn't exceed R350 000 for every annum.

• Persons with disabilities qualify if their combined household revenue would not exceed R600 000 per annum.

• SASSA recipients instantly qualify for funding and need not post any evidence of income.

*** Loan Scheme for the Missing Middle

The NSFAS Loan Scheme for the missing middle is open my nsfas to all South African citizens and permanent inhabitants from households with combined R350 000 and R600 000 per annum.

Applicants are reminded to provide the correct Identity Doc numbers, names, and surname, as mirrored inside their South African ID.

NSFAS only funds people who are finding out or intend to study at a general public university or nsfas login TVET college in South Africa.

All students who wish to study in any of the public universities and nsfas 2025 TVET colleges should apply timeously and not to wait until the last day.

Learners do not have to wait for matric results to apply for NSFAS. They should apply now and avoid delays in the processing of their application.
